Teacher’s Day is celebrated to mark the birthday of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the second President of India. He was born in 1888 in a poor Brahmin family in South India and was India’s great philosopher. When he was on his way to join Calcutta as a professor, his disciples brought him to Mysore University to the railway station in a carriage that was laden with flowers.
On September 5, especially in schools and colleges, students appreciate the hard work of their teachers who is a friend, mentor and guider who helps them in making their future bright. Furthermore, pupils decorate their classes with beautiful things and do different activities like singing, dancing and speech to entertain their teachers.
